Al-Khateeb Meets with Undersecretary of UN Secretary General for Information in New York
New York, May 9 (SUNA)- The Secretary General of the Ministry of Information, Abdul-Dafie Al-Khateeb, has met in New York with the Undersecretary of the UN Secretary General for Information and Communication Affairs on the sidelines of the 30th session of the UN Information Committee. Al-Khateeb invited the Undersecretary of the UN Secretary General for Information and Communication Affairs to visit Sudan. He also called for increase to the resources assigned for the UN Information Centre in Khartoum, support to the cooperation between the United Nations and the national unity government, especially in the fields of training, capacity building and promotion of the laws toward enhancement of the media profession. Al-Khateeb said that the UN information mechanism shall take into consideration the successes and positive developments taking place in the economic and social development fields in north and south Sudan as a fruit of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA). The UN official accepted the invitation to visit Sudan, and agreed on increasing the resources for cooperation with Sudan in the fields of training and capacity building and other spheres. MO/MO
