The SLM/A Free Will and JEM Peace Wing factions have signed a political and military protocol agreeing to set up a joint higher military, political and information committee for coordination of stances and overcoming their previous divergences.

The Free Will spokesman, Mohammed Abdallah Adam, disclosed that the two parties have agreed to jointly lead campaigns, highlighting the general public on the two movements respective views as to the current situation in Darfur and to face the challenge on the ground with a unified political and military stances. According to Adam, the two movements have urged the Government not to fragment the Darfur Peace Agreement and to implement it on the real ground to the word and spirit equitably among the signatory movements. Moreover, the movements warned the Government and the AU against the risk of excluding any party from joining the Darfur Peace Agreement, DPA. The spokesman concluded by affirming that they would jointly address the people of Darfur from the grassroots to enlighten them on the political, social and economic merits of the DPA
