Report: European and African Joint New Policies to Limit Immigration of Africans to Europe. By: Shawrani O. Al- Hassan
Khartoum, Jan
24 (SUNA) --- Link of Immigration with development is a European - African attempt to limit immigration of the Africans to Europe. The issue would be discussed in the Summit of the African Union scheduled to be convene in Addis Ababa during the period Jan.22-30 and in which a considerable number of Presidents, Observers and representatives from the International Organizations and the European Countries are expected to take part
Mali has proposed in the Seventh Summit establishment of an African Centre specialized in studies and researches on immigration. The 7th African Summit would be hosted by Ethiopia under the title (Sciences, Technology, Scientific Research and Climate in Africa). One of the summit's agenda is a report of the Joint Ministerial Council between the AU and the EU on immigration and development. The continuous attempts of Africans to cross the Moroccan borders in order to reach Europe urges officials in the AU and EU to think about new policy concerning immigration based on supporting development in poor countries instead of building isolating walls
The two Sides agreed to establish a new Strategic Partnership based on support of Economic Development, Trade Exchange and Building Infrastructure in the African Countries aiming at realizing peace and security. Africans call on the International Community to double its developmental assistances to the African Continent in the up- coming years without linking these assistances to any political interests. Number of immigrants from developing countries to the rich ones reached recently a remarkable increase. A report published by the Global Committee for Immigration (GCIM) said that the number of immigrants worldwide reached currently (200) millions persons comparing to (75) millions in three past decades. Thousands of Africans leave daily to the Mediterranean shores targeting Europe through the Great Desert an issue that leads to the death of a number of them. Nearly 5,8 millions immigrants from the Mediterranean region and the Far East area live in Europe currently , the majority of them in France and Germany and the other in Holland , Spain and Italy
The majority of those immigrants are from Turkey (2,65) millions , Morocco(1,63 ) millions and Algeria (0,76 ) millions. Observers noticed that most of those immigrants are not educated or obtained low education. The rapidly growth of the African Economy may lead in the future to return back of the African immigrants
