The streets of Juba have been virtually empty for the past four days following a vindicated reaction by Mundari youth and armed groups. The reason: an Arab (nothern Sudanese) trader had molested, at gun point, a 6 year old local boy from the Mundari tribe.
It all started on a quiet Sunday morning when an evil arab trader lured and sweet-talked an innocent local child into his room.
After repeatedly raping and sodomizing the child at gun point the Arab trader cleaned up and released him. The child, shaken and confused to say the least, did not report the shameful ordeal to his parents until the next morning when the parents noticed the child's swollen back and bruises on various parts of the body.
With remorseful tears rolling down his cheeks, the kid narrated the whole disgusting ordeal. How the Jalaba tricked him, beat him and forced him to do the deed.
Not long thereafter, the news consumed Juba like a wild bush fire... "a Jalaba trader molested a 6 year old Mundari boy"!
As if the situation was not bad enough, the Sharia Police in Juba added salt onto the fresh wound by arresting the parents and the sodomized kid for lying when they (the parents) tried to report the case to the police.
It must be recalled that the police institution in the South is now dominated by NIF's muslim brothers. Like NIF's mujahedin, the police are there to implement and impose the policy of a police state. They are notorious for mistreating locals and taking sides especially when a northerner is involved.
With the arrest of the parents and the victim, it become clear to the locals that even the authorities were not interested in the truth. The arab culprits roamed freely while his victim (a child) and the entire family were locked up in jail!. Justice must be done.
The community found this too much to stomach and the already tense situation quickly turned into riots where the police station was raided. The family managed to escape and so did other real criminals. Shops and market places have remained closed through the day. The tension is still mounting as armed Mundari groups arrived the town.
The culprit has disappeared. It is believed that the authorities or his friends might have zapped him to the north already.
The reports says this is not the first time an arab wrongs a local and the authorities side with the culprit rather than the victim. In the south, the arab traders act as if they are untouchable by the rule of law.
However, the arrival to Juba of Maj-Gen. Clement Wani, leader of the Mundari Militia managed to cool down the situation yesterday. The Mundari have put forward their demands to resolve this very disgusting crime. They demanded the public execution of the trader. They also stated that while homosexuality is a sexual ethos, tolerated in the midst of the Northern Arabs communities, it is and will remain a taboo and a disgraceful act among the Mundari and all Southern Sudanese and African tribes. This incident has not only brought shame to the family, but it has also deprived the child of his manhood forever. No lady will accept his hand in marriage after this. As such, the Arab community must pay one thousands ######### of cattle to the family of the boy.
Leaders from the Mundari and the Arab traders/ authorities are trying to resolve the problem.
Many such incidencies have passed unreported across several areas in the whole of NIF controlled Sudan. In the last decade, the GoS has armed all arab traders living in the South and other marginalized areas under their control. These traders operate in a militia-like manner as the government continues to grant them access to military privileges. They terrorize locals, mistreat, rape and even murder locals without the authorities doing much to correct their atrocities. Some have even acquired land and other forms of wealth through these unrightful means.
But there is hope that one day, maybe sooner than later, the rule of law will take over and justice will prevail.
