Re: rhymes vs. (salawat) in Arabic
This is actually the "technical point" I promised to talk about. I do acknowledge that (salawat) has that spiritual meaning... but my understanding of whatever kind of (Salat) falls with my understanding of dance... reflected in my other post on dance and internal music.
When it comes to the English version... I find myself fine with rhymes...as it could be translated as poem or verse. I could stil buy your term, Mustafa... and will see how the music and my internal acceptance for it goes. So, thanks for it. In Arabic I could use the word (Al7an) but that feels/seems sooooo empty to me. As u can see, I have written/re-written the English after the Arabic, and what had happened is that I used (salwat), and when I came to the English... felt soooo burdened with the act
of re-writing myself... and so resorted to a much lighter word
( u r making me discover it! I was not completely aware of that until I read and absorbed your critique)

Re: (Kitaba) vs. scratching... I used the word (Kitaba) and was able to see myself literally "writing" on the water... wanting to beleive (by suggestion) that it is going to hold what I write... and at the same time, escaping from the idea that it -i.e. the writing- will last!i
When it came to the English, the contrary to what had happened with the (rhymes) example occurred... I needed a more stronger term.. So, I used scratching. I was fully conscious that scratching is an act of scraping/or possibly cutting as the thesaurus says... but I dare say that I "wanted" it in that sense! (Again: was not aware of it in this depth till the moment I read and assimilated your critique, and had to dig deep into why I had chosen these words!)i
Dear Adil, Thanks too for your comments. The ones I meant are the (Sea Anemones) which belong to the same family of corals...
Please allow me to quote this web site (do I need to back my words by saying "scientific"? Well, I think, NO. Science is all "made up". What do u think?i
