    I feel that your explanation gives different meaning to the item #3 in your initiative.. I suggest re-writing it, I mean the initiative, to reflect this meaning.

    back again to the explanation: you wrote

    I was among many who advocated against the policy of torture adopted by the NIF regime since 1989. I called for Telling the Truth first before calling for Reconciliation. Mr. Khalid Musa, representative of the regime responded partially in the conference of Sudan Studies Association in Santa Clara in 2004. This when he courageously denounced torture. However, his statement was missing important thing:admiting it did happen by the regime and still happening as was recently reported, see

    In this specific case, your initiative would not work if you asked me not to continue the camapaign against those advocated and practiced torture.

    Another example: the case of progressive islam: as many seculars on this list I openly advocate for separation of religion and politics.
    I do not mind if you used Koran verses and Hadith to support your argument in a political issue. At the same time I ask you to give me the same right to have a different interpretation of these verses or Hadiths..

    This is the basic of any dialogue, from my point of view.
