Description: Duties and responsibilities:
Under the overall supervision of DRR Operations, the incumbent performs the following duties:
1. Follows the development of UN/UNDP system-wide ICT management policies and practices through reviewing such policies and practices in the UN/UNDP system; provides advice on technical and policy opportunities, and reports on developments and trends of system-wide importance;
2. Identifies, analyzes and proposes actions to leverage emerging issues and new opportunities in the field of information and communication technologies that have potential impact on the strategies and practice of IT management;
3. Identifies and develops policy initiatives designed to maximize the benefits of the advanced ICT, industry best practices and Internet-based solutions for programme planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation, and day-to-day management and administration; oversees the preparation of policy proposals, briefs, studies, discussion papers for the consideration of Senior Management;
4. Identifies and develops policy initiatives designed to maximize the benefits of the advanced ICT, industry best practices and Internet-based solutions for implementation of tools to promote efficient business processes, functions and services;
5. Study, develop and coordinate implementation of the linkages between CO and Projects ICT activities with respect to cross-compatibility and use of hardware and software, networks, e-mail groups, web-site design, database design and software development, e-based public information and advocacy campaigns;
6. Provides technical guidance and supervision of the work of the Assistant to ICT/LAN Manager; Contributes substantially to the preparation of the CO Information Management/Automation Plan Develop ICT training materials and manuals for users, conduct regular training sessions and training of trainers.
Education
Masters Degree Masters Degree Local Qualified
§ Advanced University Degree in computer science, telecommunications, business administration or other related fields, with strong specialization in ICT areas
§ At least 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the UN/or other international organizations, in the area of the information and communication management, ICT infrastructure programme development, implementation and coordination, including web design, database development, systems management, internet/intranet systems, IT training
§ Solid ICT and information management strategies knowledge; proficiency in relevant hardware and software platforms and packages § Fluency in English
