A History of the Faith
Passing on the Catholic faith is not an option but an imperative, says the archibshop of Boston, Sean O'Malley, OFM. Looking to history and theology, O'Malley addresses this subject in a keynote talk that was part of Boston College's "Handing on the Faith" conference for Catholic scholars and leaders. The conference was focused on Catholicism within the context of contemporary American culture, and the modes of communication to be used in conveying the Catholic tradition.
The address and the conference were funded with a grant from the Knights of Malta, New England Region

Philip Jenkins, professor of history and religious studies at Pennsylvania State University, has written 18 books and more than 100 articles on topics ranging from religion, history, criminal justice, and American studies. In his latest book, The New Anti-Catholicism: The Last Acceptable Prejudice (Oxford University Press, 2003), Jenkins suggests that anti-Catholic bigotry has existed in this nation for as long as Catholicism has been practiced here. Over the past few centuries, he says this form of bigotry has become a subtle characteristic of American culture.

From the perspective of her personal journey, she discusses ways to think about the Resurrection as a lens for examining situations in daily life—the death of a loved one, or the contemporary dating scene, for example.

Truly Divine and Truly Human: Believing in the Incarnation

Boston College theology professor Fr. Michael Himes continues the Church in the 21st Century's "Adventure of Faith" lecture series with a discussion of the Incarnation, the belief that Jesus Christ was both human and divine.
Fr. Himes is introduced by Fr. Robert Imbelli, also of the theology department, and John Xeller, a junior in the Lynch School of Education.
