Dear Nour, Mahdi, Khalil, and other women's rights activists,
I salute your initiative to make this international day an event to highlight the gross abuse and oppressinon that taret women.
I would like to participate with you in making this event a point of departure for all of us in this list in committing and making something meaningful on this day.
I joined the effort led by the Sudan National Rally in Philadelphia (USA)
www.snrphiladelphia.net and become one of the planning committee along with Ms. Igbal Almardi. We hope to have a panel discussion that will highlight some of the women's issues.
Dr. Magda Ahmed (Abunama) is leadin a coalition of 4 US organizations in Western Massachusetts that are planning an event for one week-long in March. The event that includes an art exhibit for the children of Darfur will be primarily focusing on the Darfurina women's issues as they surviving the ongoing violence and genocide. They secured the participation of two distinguished speakers for that day: Ms. Zeinab Aeyga; and Ustaz/Khalid Kodi.
I would love to share your events with another taskforce group of some women activists in the American Friends Service committee www.afsc.org where I work. this group of women that I recently joined as gesture of solidarity is planning a series of events during that week nationwide in the US.
Let's all work and make the Women's Day a real global event to ease the oppression on their shoulders, especially the religious one.
