Quote: Tedx Khartoum In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.) Started as a four-day conference in California 25 years ago, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, NOW, TedX has finally arrived to Khartoum and will be having Proffessor Belgees Badri, Abdelkariem Badri, Alfateh Hussain, Mustafa Khojali, Rashid Diab and more famous and intellectual speakers. Tedx conference –April 30th 2011 For the first time in Khartoum, a variety of successful and creative individuals were able to present and share their life experiences and achievement with more than 900 people of the public. The opportunity of sharing their life accomplishment and innovations was pulled off by TedX, a group of self organized team who were able to attain this goal and expose to Khartoum who they are and what TedX is. The event was presented by Mr. Anwar …, the president of TedX Khartoum who brought the idea of TedX and introduced it to Khartoum. The response to the invitations was very high, not only by the public but also by foreigners of different nationalities who showed great interest to the event. Individuals were given 18 minutes to speak to the audiences and contribute with their ideas; speakers such as Professor Belquis Badri spoke about women’s rights and the stand against Circumcision. Another speaker, Mr. Abdelkarim Badri spoke about his invention, a glove that interprets sign language for deaf people which was approved and honored by many different countries around the world. Mr. Rashid Diab, the great Sudanese artist was also one of the speakers who explained the exquisiteness of light and colors and how to make use of scrap and turn it into an artistic antique. Sudaneen band were also there to play their sole music and spread their beautiful tunes as well as the magnificent artist singer Mr. Alfatih Hussain, his interpretation of Danbor music through the use of guitar mesmerized the listeners. Many of the audiences commented on TedX conference as being a mean of expressing ideas and how they enjoyed the speakers interesting stories. They all thought that it was an outstanding experience and should be made on a continuous base.
