There are two opposing views as how to deal with the Sudan's Bashir. On one hand, the hard-liners, spear-headed by the US UN rep. Dr. Rice, advocate a tougher stance on Sudan up to and including the ousting of Bashir. The doves in the State Department,on the other hand, and with the backing of the US Envoy Gen. Cretian, spouse a softer approach via managing the Sudan issue diplomatically. The job of the American president has traditionally been to shake both positions and come up with a compromising stance. This is a traditional American status quo and it's Politics 101.
