Let me use the opportunity of Saif's ,almost successfully shooting down the naive "spy" argument" of Dr A A Ibrahim, to comment on the above important Quote from Saif's excellent and balanced response.
The so so called Dinasours in our political life just "do not go away" despite their abissmal legacy!!They are there all the time regurgitating their nonsense while their "Tarck Record" clearly does not allow them any "credit/trust" when it comes to adavancing the cause of the Sudan state which , some of them, once governed in one way or another or at least aspired to do so.We should not be surprised, then , when they go personal all the way and try to humiliate each other in public as a "little" personal win for the infalted ego, may make up for a life of public failure ranging from a being in "chronic oppositon to all governments for life" to working under an idiotic dictator like Numeri-hardly a recipe for developing successful leaders who see beyond the personal stuff
Best wishes
Adil

Quote: This report is what is called an Open Source Report, by which a reporter identifies and monitors all available information sources of the issue, then uses these information in his or her reporting. All information in such reports should be easy to verify. Every Foreign Service agency of western countries uses this reporting method to monitor social and political activities. This reporting is distinct and completely different from the espionage activities, which depend largely on agents (human intelligence), and theses activities go beyond mere reporting. In this case, the CIA would only use this report (if it uses it at all) for its future planning of any espionage activities related to the communism in Sudan.
To analyze and conclude if someone is a CIA’s agent should never be based on Open Source Reporting. It has to be based on the documents of the Agency itself, its affiliates or counterpart agency in case of double agents. The CIA follows very disciplined and sophisticated guidelines in protecting its agents depending on the nature of services these agents provide. However, sometimes the CIA does reveal the names of its agents and its activities. This can take place in different ways. One way, when the agency uses a subject to do a onetime task. The recent example of this is the case of the former Iraqi minister who received a hefty payment and a promise of protection in exchange of information related to Sadam’s final plans. Sure, the Agency assures his safety during the fall of Saddam and he is now working as a professor somewhere in the Middle East under an assumed identity. The second way, when the Agency is put under pressure by the media, the Congress or the American public as represented by the civil and legal organizations. An example of this took place few months ago when the Agency declassified and released the documents related to some of its specific espionage activities during certain period. You can read these documents by googling Family Jewels and you can find information about attempts to assassinate Castro and actual assassination of Lommba. The third way is the routine release of the documents that are no longer need to be kept secret. We should note that, the documents released by Agency are always redacted by removing certain names and information whenever there is still need to be protected. In case of Mansoor Khalid, I do not expect to see any of the CIA’s documents with his name on it because he is still kicking and there is a need to protect him ( some of you may not agree, but it is not up to any of us). In fact , Aballah A. Ibrahim knows that he can not prove Mansoor is or was a CIA’s agent, this why he called him a snitch.
Finally, these available documents do not prove or disprove the fact that Mansoor is or was an agent, and as I said , doing either takes more than reading such reports and playing the naïve minds of the ignorant on both sides, and I’m taking no side in this murky debate. Just, as history goes on, we will know who was an agent of what agency and who was not. Having said this, I have to admit my astonishment of seeing most contributors to this post writing while they are already made up their minds, even before the documents were posted. This is very alarming by showing us to which extent, the generation of these two men has damaged and poisoned the future of the Sudan. The controversy is not about whether or not Mansoor is a spy, it is about the last episode of the failure of his generation. The members of this generation, which includes most of the current established dinosaurs, are seeing most of their lives are now behind them. They are fighting their last battle. It is for their legacy, and because nothing left to fight over, their battles turned personal. This is because, for all of their lives, they have never believed in a Sudan that is beyond their personal achievements. Amazingly, they have never lost their sense of entitlement, even to the way how history should judge them and the others. It is over for them, even if they do not admit it. What a waste……
All the preprogrammed members of this forum should take notice and rethink their position, because it makes no sense that, what was done by one of our symbols of failure in 1953 creates such a controversy. We live in a different world; nevertheless, these endangered species of dinosaurs are succeeding once again to make the lives of the Sudanese people miserable by misleading them to follow their footsteps of failure. I cannot wait to see all these dinosaurs finish each other up so everybody can restart building a modern Sudan that is free from their intimidating dominance.

Hatim
Salam
Since I am one of those who bluntly dismissed all potential or actual roles of these two men in a modern Sudan, I am obliged to clear why I said what I said. In addition, because I believe my opinion reflects, to a larger extend, that of my generation, which you yourself belong to, I will comment on some parts of what you wrote:
I can not agree more. Everyone we know uses this very nice line. Ironically, all adventurous power seekers throughout our troubled history used it. Now, let us apply this to the current controversy. The problem you have mentioned is exactly what these two men and the others are doing. You are correct; it is an old disease from the past. But who did invent it? I believe they did and it is their main legacy. They have been infected with this disease even before our independence. It also becomes more contagious as these dinosaurs get older and older. We wish to cure them. However, they believe they are not infected and they persist on that and we have no way to convince any of them. So, to protect ourselves and other new generations, our only option is to push these people out, otherwise, we have to wait for every single one of their generation to go away naturally or they may finish each other before that using their nonsense.
Well….. We believe in that too, hoping our dreams are the same. But, do they believe as we all do? Dr. Abdalla is rewriting the history of his generation on his own terms, thanks to you, now everybody knows how he is doing it. In fact, once upon a time he invented his own Abdelkhalig Mahgoob. Dr. Monsoor was a master in the game of “all but me” when he wrote about their/his generation. His brilliant way was to make people overlook his own record and bail him out the ranks of a generation he described as nothing but failure. Some fell in the trap and gave him a second chance, and that was all he needed. Good for them, but for us selectivity in reading his record is not an option. It is time for all us to read the history on our own and reach our own conclusions.
Why is that? What special about these two men and other members of their generation other than their failure?. They do not possess any special talents that other generations are lacking. Thanks to their dominance, which they acquired by their sense of entitlement, our vision is so blinded we see no one but a bunch of dinosaurs and cave dwellers from the1950s. The disagreement ABOUT them was not what lead us to put them down, as you have claimed. Our disagreement WITH them is more than the one ABOUT them and this is why we hope to eliminate them, so we can move on. What put them down are their records, obsolete way of thinking and their false beliefs that they can get away with more than fifty years of failures. We should not give them any more chance, because, as the saying goes, we would be insane if we keep trying those very same dinosaurs expecting different results.
A final note to Adil Isaac and to all of those who share our dreams and concerns:
This week Mr. Warner, a U S senator from Virginia and a former husband of Elizabeth Taylor, announced his plans not to seek reelection next year. He has an excellent political record, which will assure retaining of his seat, but he elected to step aside. In his speech, he quoted Jefferson by saying:
(THERE IS A FULLNESS OF TIME WHEN MEN SHOULD GO AND NOT OCCUPY TOO LONG THE GROUND TO WHICH OTHERS HAVE THE RIGHT TO ADVANCE)
What a lesson.
Best wishes
Saif

هذا هو نصّه _________
September 12, 2007 Dear Mr. Adil Osman: This is in response to your email of August 25th inquiring about whether the National Archives holds a paper written by the above-named individual. Given the paucity of particulars provided, the volume of records possibly to be sifted through, and the agencies which could have been involved, we cannot tell at this point. However, we found no entries in the name index for the State Department's central decimal file. There is a Joseph D. Sweeney Collection at the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library (500 W. US Hwy. 24. Independence MO 64050 [email protected]; Phone: 816-268-8200 or 1-800-833-122). Perhaps they have a copy on file. If not ,because of recent budget cuts, we have a severely reduced reference staff, one hard-pressed to deal with on-site researchers and provide general research guidance to correspondents. To help you from afar, we would need more specific information. Or you can visit yourself. If that is not feasible, at our web site is provided a list of professional researchers, one of which you can hire if necessary. We hope this information is useful. Sincerely, John Vernon Archivist, Modern Civilian Records Textual Archives Services Division(NWCTC) NWCTC07-03573
