Nothing Saves Sudan from NCP Woes, but Protected Popular Uprising or Deluge By Mahmoud A. Suleiman

Of the perils of times is that people around the globe, especially in the African continent, are still living under authoritarian regimes for so long, in spite of their liberation from the clutches of colonialism by more than fifty odd years. For the people of Sudan, out of eighty-five years of independence, forty-seven years languished under the dictatorial military coup regimes. Moreover, the rest of the eleven years the people of Sudan spent in unstable quasi-democratic systems. The so-called ‘Democratic period were Characterized frequently by wrangling, quarrelsome and conspiracy against each other in the circles of the traditional political parties. Those reasons encouraged ambitious army officers to rule the country through the overthrow of a democratic political system. Unfortunate for the Sudanese people, the worst of the three military regimes is the current one led by the Muslim Brotherhood's National Islamic Front (NIF) and its offshoot the National Congress Party (NCP).
It is clear that the Sudanese Dawn is long overdue, and for some it is doubtful to come. Most of the Sudanese do not enjoy decent live, minimum of tranquility or freedom, or even just hope for tomorrow. Fears of the unknown future, concerns about tomorrow and bad thoughts surround the conscious mind of many disenfranchised individuals.
Sadly, and whether we like it or not, Mr. Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir "rests assured laden -burden" in such a "place" provided for him by a group of opportunists and self-interested and short of conscience and who sold themselves cheaply and betrayed the homeland and its people. Omar al-Bashir remains in hiding behind stones mousey to avoid apprehension and handed over to the ICC. He tried over the years evading arrest because he knows he is a perpetrator of the heinous crimes his army and militias committed in the right of the people of Sudan in Darfur. Moreover, al-Bashir has not the courage like Uhuru Jomo Kenyatta who voluntarily surrendered to the International Criminal Court and went free and innocent to the joy of the people of Kenya and Africa.
It does not seem that there is something remains to "save” Omer Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir of his ordeals. Only one of the three options remains for him to try. Nevertheless, he does not seem to have the courage enough for him to risk one: is to step down or to appear before the International Criminal Court, as did his counterpart of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta or death willingly or unwillingly. Furthermore, Omar al-Bashir does not seem brave enough to step aside, like Hosni Mubarak of Egypt and Zine El Abidine Ben Ali of Tunisia or Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen. Observers believe that Omer al-Bashir is likely to continue trading insults and curses for those who do not support his vacuous destructive plans and outmoded lies. Furthermore, hypocrites and hire links will continue shouting slogans as long as their master of grace bestows public money on them. And he (al-Bashir) will continue dancing joyfully at his public gatherings, while feeling the pain as a result of what awaits him of misfortunes in the City of The Hague, Netherlands, headquarters of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Not only will that, al-Bashir, surely, continue talking about the ‘National Dialogue’ AKA ‘Wathba’ sarcastically.
Bashir’s National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) detained opposition figures that attended the Addis Ababa meetings and signed the Sudan Call Document agreed upon by the Sudanese Revolutionary Front (SRF), National Umma Party (NUP), the National Consensus Forces (NCF) a coalition of opposition parties, and the Sudanese Civil Society Initiative. They attended meetings with the AU High-level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) mediation team for Sudan on their participation in the National Dialogue. Thea fait accompli result is the collapse of the Addis Ababa negations because the NCP regime led by al-Bashir did not want to stop the wars. Al-Bashir’s objectives behind the Addis Ababa talks and the Wathba initiative are move towards April 2015 elections that would be imposed a fait accompli. As we know that the 9th round of negotiations between the al-Bashir’s government and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement –North (SPLM-N) has come to an end. The final negotiations brokered by the AU failed because the NCP government wanted to strip the SPLA-N forces of arms within six months, cessation of hostilities within two weeks and without touching on the more needed humanitarian issues in the war zone of the Nuba Mountains and the Blue Nile. Moreover, that issue such as the Autonomy for the two regions was neither discussed in Addis Ababa nor in the alleged ‘national dialogue’. Thus, the status quo continues in the NCP Sudan. Thabo Mbeki decided adjourning the negotiation session, saying that the next session maybe at the beginning of the next year! Therefore, in seeking a comprehensive and sustainable peace one is better off to resorting to other more effective mechanisms than through the fruitless negotiations with the regime led by Omer al-Bashir. The NCP regime resorts to these type of negotiations with the aim for distracting the opposition, buying time and remaining longer than the quarter of the century they spent in power.
At this juncture, the international community has always supported the NCP government led by the Génocidaire Omer al-Bashir. The unlimited support given to the criminal fugitive from the international justice, al-Bashir, has led to disasters for the civilian populations in the internecine war zones in Darfur, Nuba Mountains and the Blue Nile. The international community especially the members of the Troika of the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Norway who earlier welcomed al-Bashir’s National Dialogue for Sudan and were conscious about the concerns expressed by the Sudanese people must realize the lies of the (NCP) regime. They need to stand for the rights of the Sudanese people to live and have the basics for livelihood and peace and security. The international community and the good people of the world should get appalled that so much injustice could exist and that Innocent civilians in Darfur, South Kordofan, Blue Nile, Eastern Beja people and those Nubians in the far north are held under conditions that are hard to imagine in this day and age.
All the Sudanese opposition components both civil and the armed united in Addis Ababa on the 3rd December 2014 and signed the Sudan Call document. They did so in preparation for the establishment of the State of citizenship and democracy, which accommodates all the people of Sudan, regardless of ethnicity, belief, gender, age, regional affiliation, political or cultural background, colour, language, tribe or any other factor.
The arrests initiated by the government of Omar al-Bashir against the signatories of the document Sudan Call demonstrates the lack of seriousness of the NCP regime to open the door to dialogue for peaceful solutions and the arbitrary arrests is also contrary to the decision of the Council of peace and security of the African Union number 456.
Locking up activists and arbitrary detention of opposition party leaders and censorship of press and harsh crackdown of journalists are acts contrary to the Dialogue advocated by Omer al-Bashir in the month of January 2014. Moreover, this act is a call for a return to the war that ruined and ruled on the ashes of the dead and brought all the woes to the Sudanese homeland.
Now that the unification of the previously opposition gives lifeblood to the ruling party and stay in power for so long now have united in spite of the unjustified oppression, the departure of Omer al-Bashir and his gangsters to the dustbin of history is about. All that is needed by the Sudanese people is for the international community to act neutral, if undecided in supporting the cause of the people of Sudan. We know that Omer al-Bashir will remain opposed to the comprehensive sustainable peace and the complete democratic transformation for Sudan. In this atmosphere where crimes of mass gang rape committed in the village of Tabit and the siege of internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp in Hamediya in Zalingei Is going on, there will be no room at all for further negotiations nor there any merits for the cracked vacuous talk advocated by al-Bashir about alleged elections. The people of Sudan are certain that the (NCP) regime will win the elections in which al-Bashir will be competing himself solo besides the quasi-parties that been created by the National Congress Party from some originally hired individuals, satirically referred to as ‘Tawali Parties’!
Omer al-Bashir is ready to fight the armed opposition through his proxy wars waged by the infamous Janjaweed militia bandit, nicknamed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for many years to come in order to remain in power and avoiding arrest by the International Criminal Court (ICC). His paranoia tells him to cling on to power at all costs, including committing further genocidal crimes, because he fears his successors in the helm of power in Sudan might surrender him, whether likes it or not, to The Hague in the Netherlands.
In the prevailing circumstances and the pathetic situation, there is no way out for the people of Sudan from the prolonged impasse other than massive popular uprising, similar to the revolution of the people of Burkina Faso who ousted the 27-year regime of President Blaise Compaoré. The upcoming Sudanese uprising requires to be protected by the forces of the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) to shield the civilian protestors against the killing machine of the regime and avoiding the repetition of the tragic massacre of September 2013 popular uprising when hundreds of people were martyred .
