UN revels that Sudan's president has canceled his visit to New York

UN revels that Sudan's president has canceled his visit to New York
New York- United Nations (UN) reveled on Wednesday that Sudan's president, Omar al-Bashir, has canceled his visit to New York City for the annual meeting of the United Nations that began on Monday.
At a news conference on Sunday, al-Bashir did not say whether the US had granted him a visa yet, but did say he had made preparations to fly to New York via Morocco.
"We booked the flight route via Morocco ... we booked a hotel," he said, adding that it was his right to attend the UN assembly, adding that he was not worried that US authorities would arrest him, as demanded by human rights groups, because Washington is not a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
"Nobody in the US can question me or hold me," he said.
The International Criminal Court indicted Bashir in 2010 for the mass killings of more than 200,000 people in Darfur. The court has issued multiple arrest warrants, for war crimes, crimes against humanity and acts of genocide.
Samantha Power, the U.S. ambassador to the UN, has called the possible visit “deplorable, cynical and hugely inappropriate.” But the State Department has not yet made a final decision on granting him an entry visa.
“From now on, the only place he should plan to travel to should be The Hague where a cell awaits him,” said Philippe Bolopion of Human Rights Watch.
