Statement from the Women’s Political Forces and Civil Society organizations and Groups on the Sudan

Position Statement from the Women’s Political Forces and Civil Society organizations and Groups on the Sudan Call
    To the People of Sudan
We, the undersigned women, are fully motivated by our national responsibility, have gathered from different political and civic positions, to respond to the Sudan Call Declaration. This declaration, signed by solid and different national civilian and military forces, who are concerned about the welfare of this country, as part of their collective efforts to save Sudan and establish a peaceful, equal citizenship and democratic State that upholds the principles of justice and the rule of law as an alternative to the current authoritarian and totalitarian regime.
As women living the sorrowfulness in our country, are delighted about the united voice of the Sudanese opposition against the dominance, oppression and injustice of the one-party system, and fully determined to bring down this regime so that the sun of freedom, democracy and peace rises. Sudan Call has brought hope for the culmination of efforts and the completion of previous agreements to build a state of equal citizenship and to address the pressing issues in this country, most importantly to stop the bloodshed in Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile. This declaration aims to heal the cruel effects of war such as displacement, homelessness and poverty, and to stop the squandering of the country’s resources in war and the impoverishment of its people by parasitic economic policies dictated by global capitalism.
Sudanese women have been the primary targets of this regime’s backward ideology. The vicious attack on women was carried out through the regime’s degrading laws and violent practices that are intended to take women back to the harem times. The laws of public order, personal status code and community security, as well as a number of articles in the criminal law and other laws, adding to this the violent practices against women in conflict zones and in all parts of the country, are profoundly degrading women pride and dignity.
Still, this regime is moving toward more wreckage and destruction of our Sudanese nation, and is continuing along the path of war, oppression and tyranny. It is moving far and falling short of the requirements of the alleged dialogue, as it continues the arrests of opposition leaders and activists, the kidnapping and liquidating of students and dissidents, and the blockading of the activities of political parties and civil society. Furthermore, the regime has devoted most of the 2015 budget to its repressive military institutions and reinforcing its totalitarian repression and autocracy, consolidating this by the recent constitutional amendments according to its

whims, putting its partisan agenda first at the expense of the nation and its citizens and using elections to gain a fake legitimacy.
Sudanese women, who are half of the greater community, constitute more of the victims as well as the strongest opposition of the regime’s policies. Women are fundamental part of Sudan Call forces. They should constitute a significant proportion of Sudan Call’s coordinating bodies and future committees. Women issues must become an integral part of Sudan Call programs for the abolition of laws restricting freedoms and those humiliating and degrading the dignity of women.
Men and Women Citizens, we as women forces who are seeking change, declare our firm adherence to Sudan Call and our full commitment to implement it on the ground. We will strive, with all forces of change, to complete this political Call by agreeing on issues beyond regime change, so as the hopes of Sudanese women and men to uplift our nation from the threat of collapse, fragmentation and loss, come true.
Long Live the struggle of the Sudanese People Long Live the struggle of Sudanese Women
