Jan 21, 2015-Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-Defense team of the chairman of Sudan’s opposition alliance of the National Consensus Forces (NCF) , Farouk Abu Issa, and head of the Alliance of the Sudanese Civil Society Organisations, Amin Mekki Madani, said that it would submit the Justice Minister, Mohamed Bushara Dosa a memorandum of protest calling for the release of detainees or bring them to fair trial.
At a press conference on Wednesday, the head of defence team, Omar Abdel Atti, described existence of the detainees in Kober Prison without trial is “unlawful”, pointing out that his team submitted four petitions to the prosecution but there is response
Abdel Atti stressed that the issue is not legal, but political in which the State uses the law, expecting support from politicians, noting that if the detainees were released without trial, that they will demand compensation through the civil court.
In last month the National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) arrested Abu Issa and Madani, besides former ruling National Congress Party (NCP) member, Farah Agar, and his office manager, Mohamed Eldoud after they signed the “Sudan Call” declaration for peace and democracy with the rebel groups in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa.
On January 2, Abu Issa asked his family and any other party to stop requesting his release on the basis of his age and health condition, assuring opposition forces and supporters that he remains steadfast and his morale is high.
