Darfur Authority trains DPs sons to protect the voluntary return villages

    Khartoum-SudaneseOnline-The Darfur Regional Authority has disclosed that I would train (815) of DPs sons to protect the voluntary return villages.
    Secretary-General of the voluntary return of The Darfur Regional Authority, Mahdi Manzool, told the run-state Sudanese Media Center (SMC) on Sunday that first batch of the sons of displaced persons would be accommodate at the police after training to carry out protection duties, adding that there is coordination between the Darfur Regional Authority, the security committees of the states and managers of camps to distribute the trainees.
    Manzool stressed that providing of the necessary protection for the voluntary return villages is top priority, pointing out that his Authority has allocated special amount of money in the next budget to ensure stability and encourage them to remain in their home areas, stating that they receive return applications continually, adding that all camps of the displaced are stable at different levels.
    Almost a third of the population of Darfur are still relying on food aid for survival ten years on from the beginning of the region’s conflict, International Development Minister, Lynne Featherstone, has said during a visit to Sudan in 2013
    “A decade since the beginning of the Darfur conflict the region’s people are still suffering. Millions have been forced from their homes and 2.7 million people still rely on food aid for survival.
    “The signing of the 2011 Doha Peace Agreement was a cause for optimism. However, the people of Darfur have yet to see tangible improvements to their lives and continue to need our support.
